The word "DeHynton" in Anglo Saxon means "Old Town".
The earliest record reveils that "in the Company on Geoffery de Magnavil of Normandy" were two brothers, bearing the name of Gruald and Ulbert De Hynton, who came over to England with him and fought at Hastings.
This was the start of the Hinton Name. This was in the Doomsday Book 1070.
In 1688 three Hinton brothers were sent to America by their Father Sir John Hinton of Wales, to start a shipping company. The hopes and dreams of the family were to live in the "land of the free." Sir John Hinton died in 1732.
